Beach Cleanup 2015

On Saturday, 9/19/15, I closed up shop, for the morning, to hangout with friends while helping out at the annual beach cleanup here in Marina.

The cleanup was organized by Save Our Shores and Citizens for Sustainable Marina. Here are a few snapshots. There was no apparent garbage when we arrived; Maybe, it was due to being an hour late to the cleanup and the punctual volunteers had cleaned up much of it by the time we got there, d'oh.  Nonetheless, we were enjoying the beautiful views while heading to the beach...

When we got to the surf, we started running into pockets of refuse, ugh...

At the sign in table, we were given a sheet to tally the different types of trash we collected, as well as any dead wildlife found along the way, providing important data to the organizers. Here's a pic while talking with our awesome mayor and fellow beach cleanup volunteer, Bruce Delgado...

A snapshot with my compadres- Luis, Lisa and their son, Alex...

In celebration of beach cleanup, I have some free driftwood to give away at the shop, perfect for mixing in with potted plants. Many thanks should you get the opportunity to volunteer at the next cleanup, :)
